About Provio

Provio is a forensic-grade digital evidence platform built for legal professionals, insurers, investigators, and construction teams who need tamper-proof, legally defensible documentation. Every photo, video, and document is cryptographically sealed the moment it is captured, creating an unbreakable chain of custody from device to courtroom.

Our Mission

We exist to make digital evidence trustworthy. In an era of deepfakes and easy manipulation, organisations need proof they can stand behind. Provio provides that proof through hardware-level cryptography, RFC 3161 trusted timestamps, SHA-256 hash chains, and real-time integrity verification — so the evidence you capture today is the evidence a court can rely on tomorrow.

Founded in Australia

Provio was founded in Australia with a deep understanding of the evidentiary standards required by common-law jurisdictions. Our platform is designed from the ground up to align with the Evidence Act 1995 (Cth) requirements for the admissibility of electronic evidence, ensuring metadata integrity, provenance tracking, and authenticated chain of custody that courts expect.

Legal Admissibility & Compliance

Every feature in Provio is built with legal admissibility in mind. Our evidence packaging and verification processes align with:

  • ISO/IEC 27037:2012— Guidelines for identification, collection, acquisition, and preservation of digital evidence. Provio's chain-of-custody logging, hash verification, and tamper-detection follow ISO 27037 principles at every stage.
  • Evidence Act 1995 (Cth)— Australian federal rules governing the admissibility of documents and electronically stored information. Provio's metadata capture, integrity hashing, and audit trails are designed to satisfy sections 48, 69, and 146 of the Act.
  • RFC 3161 Trusted Timestamps— Independent timestamp authority signatures that prove when evidence existed, independent of Provio's own systems.

How It Works

Evidence is captured through the Provio iOS app, which records device-level metadata (GPS, accelerometer, device ID) and immediately computes a SHA-256 content hash. The evidence package is sealed into our EVP format, timestamped by an independent RFC 3161 authority, and uploaded to encrypted cloud storage with a full audit trail. Anyone can verify the integrity of an evidence package through our public verification portal — no account required.
